Vasilii Iugov, a student of school 146, won a gold medal at the International Physics Olympiad (IPhO-2016) in Switzerland. He is also admitted to the “Golden Talent Pool” of gifted students in Perm.
This year the Olympiad saw 450 participants from 90 countries. Russia was represented by a delegation of 5 students from Kirov, Moscow, Saransk and Perm.
The tasks covered a large variety of subjects, ranging from classical mechanics to thermodynamics, electromagnetism, optics, the theory of relativity all the way to modern quantum mechanics. The participants were also to carry out an experiment.
Vasilii Iugov won a gold medal placing 31st in the individual event while the Russian delegation took 4th in the unofficial team competition.
